I would like to hear your opinions on the Supreme
Court's most recent decision regarding desegregation
practices in Seattle and Louisville. I've read
Justice Thomas' comments and I must say that I am not
surprised with what I read. "...Without a history of
state enforced racial separation a school district has
no affirmative legal obligation to take race-based
remedial measures to eliminate segregation and its
vestiges." Justice Thomas continues to state that,
"Racial paternalism and its unintended consequences
can be as poisonous and pernicious as any other form
of discrimination. As these programs demonstrate,
every time the government uses racial criteria to
'bring the races together,' someone gets excluded, and
the person excluded suffers an injury solely because
of his or her race."

In your opinion, how will this decision affect school
districts with diverse populations of students?

How will this decision affect single gender schools
designed for predominately African American males?
